Writing advice for a freshman can't be described as anything other than bittersweet. To be able to give advice I have to reflect on my high school experiences, and it makes me realize how fast time flies. I thought I would never get to the point where I would be able to call myself a senior, but my senior year has already almost come to an end. Throughout high school, you will learn a lot, and it may seem like nothing is changing, but you will look back on the years and recognize how far you have come. The most significant thing I have learned is to give people a chance. In high school, there is a lot of judgment, and being able to disregard that and make individual judgments is remarkably valuable. You never know what people you will meet and become friends with if you have a close minded perspective. Another idea I find critical to understand as a freshman is that you never know what people are going through, or what their story is. So, being able to give everyone a chance and staying kind no matter the circumstance will take you much further leading you to be a better person. School wise I have learned how important it is to find your balance. It is impossible to push yourself to be someone else. Having the idea in your head that if someone is doing something a certain way means that you should do that too isn't the right mindset. Just because a friend is taking all AP classes doesn't mean you can handle that too. You are an individual and could have other things to focus on besides school; you will be putting such stress on yourself that is very challenging to overcome. Stress drains you and causes you to be very overwhelmed and exhausted. So obtaining a balance makes high school more manageable and enjoyable. If it weren't for the stability I found throughout high school it wouldn't have been possible for me to manage school work, volunteering, a part-time job, sports, and friends. There is a large deal of pressure placed on students to take the hardest classes and get a high score on college exams, but in the end, none of that matters if you aren't happy.

BUCKET LIST :

My friends

My best friends are Jaden Watkins, Julianne Uribe, Devon Hansen, and Livy Harvey. The reason I listed them in this order is due to how long I have known them. I met Jaden in 7th grade, Julianne in 8th grade, Devon on my first day of high school freshman year, and Livy sophomore year. Throughout high school, I had the privilege to have such amazing friends to support me along the way. I have always been the type of person to have a couple of really close friends, and that is what I have stuck with. During my four years at Torrey Pines, I have had only these four very close friends who know everything about my life. Also, I made countless other acquaintances, but I'm nowhere as close to them. My four friends are the friends that I hope will be there for the rest of my life, and because we already share so many memories (that I will never be able to forget), I want to be able to create more after graduation. Coming to the end of our senior year, I have reflected on all of the times we spent together and realized how much we have grown from Freshman year. It is crazy how fast the time has flown by and how we have come so far which was unimaginable as a freshman. My friends are very supportive, caring, loving, fun, adventurous, kind and so much more. High school is a time with a lot of big changes, and it is mentally draining to try and survive every change by yourself. Having people to talk to and help you get through all these changes makes a big difference. That is why I love my friends each one of them has helped me at some point, in their way, make sense of all of the craziness that is happening. All of my friends are unique and have very extraordinary personalities. My character is most similar to Julianne. We both aren't afraid to speak up, and we also like to take risks. On the other hand, Jaden and Livy are very similar since they are both very compassionate and very sincere. Devon is excellent at problem-solving, and she's very open-minded. Because my friends are all different, we get along very well together, and our personalities complement each other very well. Where one friend lacks another compensates and is a greater asset. My friends all have made me and will continue to make me a better person.
